About two or three years ago, I bought Razer Aether Monitor Bars for my office and Scott.
One of THE most annoying thing about these lights is that they automatically turn on for some reason.
I’ve tried debugging this and not quite sure what’s going on. I hazard a guess that for some reason they disconnect from either wifi or Matter/Thread and it thinks it’s lost/regained power. Just a guess
Enter Codex – I’ve been using Codex as an agent to analyze things and help me debug issues on my network. For example:
- I hate Docker update processes and on my test home lab I had it run updates on my Docker containers. It did this perfectly.
- On my Retro arcade cabinet, I’ve had some problems with scraping game details. It helped me complete the process mostly perfectly. It also helped me debug and fix some issues with Emulators.
Bring on helping me with cleaning up my Home Assistant and some IoT devices on my network. I had it analyze and issue with my fans and hot water tank and those devices falling off our network. Some settings on my router were suggested, and those changes worked.
Next up these lights.
It turns out the Razer Gamer Room app doesn’t expose some important settings. Specifically, “Power On Behaviour”.
- Ensure the device is added as a Matter device
- Once added, click on the device
- You’ll see a section for Power On Behaviour
- Change the setting as you require
- On – Always on after a power event
- Off – Always off after a power vent
- Previous State – It will power on/off according to what the light state was before
- Toggle – Not quite sure what this is
There you go! Fixed. This also works for the bulb.
In the past 18 hours, none of our light bars or bulbs have turned on by themselves.
