1993 was when the actual process would start with Adoption Services in Newfoundland after filing the paper work in 1992. I had applied for non-identifying information and I requested a search from Post Adoption Services, providing copies of my current birth certificate (as Iain James Roger Bennett) and the search was on.

I know my adoptive mother was apprehensive about the search, constantly telling me, “We’re your family, never forget that.”

The thing was, I had some real questions – health, what happened, and also create some new connections. After all, you don’t go through 9 months of pregnancy and give up a child lightly.
